Long Beach Harbor Lighthouse
Yes, it’s ugly.
Uniquely, Long Beach
Built in 1949 for a cost of $200,000, Long Beach Harbor Lighthouse is often forgotten about. Many consider it an eyesore, or just a pile of brick. It’s a brick eyesore, but it’s a historic brick eyesore, and has earned the title “The World’s Ugliest Lighthouse.”
Long Beach Light is one of the most isolated lighthouses from public-eye in California. Our team recently visited the lighthouse and will update this page with those pictures soon. Until then, we use a filter to convey the structure, color, and physical external attributes of Long Beach Harbor Lighthouse.
Our work with Lynde Point Lighthouse is our current priority. Keepers of the Light will continue our progress with the Ugly Light in late fall 2025.
Keepers of the Light Foundation is committed to growing the culture around the Ugly Light.
